The term “Molesey Reservoir Lake” is a little inaccurate. While there was once a group of reservoirs called the Molesey Reservoirs in England, near Molesey, Surrey, they were decommissioned in 1999.

The land was then used for aggregate extraction, and after that work was completed, it’s being transformed into a wetland reserve. So, there is no longer a “lake” component to what was once the Molesey Reservoirs.

However, if you’re interested in learning more about the former Molesey Reservoirs, here’s some information:

• They were established in 1872 and 1875 by waterworks companies to provide drinking water for London.
• They were located on the south side of the River Thames, between the river and the A3050 road.
• The reservoirs were taken out of service in 1999.
   

The area is now undergoing a transformation into a wetland reserve, which will provide a habitat for various wildlife species.
